A moment of happiness, you and I sitting on the verandah, apparently two, but one in soul, you and I. We feel the flowing water of life here, you and I, with the garden’s beauty and the birds singing. The stars will be watching us, and we will show them what it is to be a thin crescent moon.” – RumiThese adorable newlyweds and I just met up recently to design their wedding album. As we chatted for hours and talked about meeting up soon for a meal. It blesses my heart to build relationships with my couples and I wish Ingrid + Stuart a lifetime of happiness.
When Rebecca called me up to tell me she was getting married I was so excited for her. Then she tells me that she always wanted me to be her Photographer and I couldn’t help but accept the honor with love. She is one of the sweetest there is. The charm of beachfront southern weddings make my heart skip a beat.
What a magical celebration as we traveled to the beaches of Southport, NC for the wedding of Rebecca + Mauricio. This spot is filled with beauty, history and southern charm. The sweet couple had their own private dock on the marsh overlooking the sea where their ceremony took place. The pier and docks full of romantic wooden boats made for the perfect nautical photo shoot.
Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
With sand in my toes,
And the wind,
In my hair.
And only the sound,
Of the seagulls,
On a beach,
Under sunny blue sky.
The gentle caress,
Of the waves,
On the shore,
And you close,
Could I ask for more?
A soft sandy beach,
That goes on,
And a beach,
So happy together.”
We included a special wedding guest and family member, their beloved pup, Kaizer. Complete with his custom made wedding bandana which made for a special and personal touch.
Dipping their toes in the water while giggling and enjoying the moment made me smile big. This day felt like it was on slo mo as we strolled the beach, danced on the docks and visited a local resident that open her home to us for photos. After all this was Easter weekend and we have so much to celebrate all around.
The park near the docks perfectly lined with Spanish moss, is such a southern staple.
Congratulations to this wonderful pair! ♥
Dear future Mr. & Mrs., first of all, congrats on finding your forever love! I thought I’d share some important advice to you as a future bride and groom planning your best day ever. I have consoled many couples that approach me after getting married with, ” I wish I would of…”. So here’s hoping to prevent possible planning mishaps and regrets.
I know planning your wedding can be stressful, overwhelming and expensive. I get it! First choosing your perfect dress, hair, makeup and those many important details you’ve envisioned. Then there’s the Venue, the Wedding Planner, the Photographer, the Florist, the Caterer, the Baker, the DJ and the list goes on. You want the perfect day and you should, after all it’s the most important day of your lives besides becoming parents.
So I understand trying to cut costs. However, the one area you do not want to spend too little on is in choosing your wedding Photographer. Trust me, you may forget your cake, your DJ and your flowers but you’ll never forget your photos. Those are the forever moments that you frame, share, post and pass down to your future generations. If you have an experienced wedding Photographer, then they can make Whole Foods bouquets look just as lovely. Even if you must have a friend make your cake or cater at your reception, I advise that over going cheap on your Photographer.
I cannot tell you how many couples approach me, once the wedding day has settled with, “We wish we had a better Photographer, our photos do not look good, they missed many important moments, they were not great to work with. We were trying to save money so we picked them.” I always sympathize with these couples, but I cannot turn back time. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for.
Along with that, a cheaper Photographer might “filter”/airbrush your images or not edit as nicely. Which in a few years when that style is out and dated, you’ll lose the timeless factor. Hiring someone that is talented in every aspect is crucial and it’s part of what you pay for.
Make sure you choose specifically a wedding Photographer. I know of a bride that hired a very talented children’s Photographer that had not much wedding experience. She missed key moments during the day and even apologized afterwards when it was too late. You see a Photographer with wedding experience understands the timeline of your day. They know exactly what photos need to be taken, how to communicate and assist with the stresses of your day without getting stressed themselves.
An experienced wedding Photographer is worth it! After all, these are your priceless forever moments that tell your love story.
I hope this helped you and Happy Planning! I wish you a lifetime of beautiful moments!
The romantic Barn at Camp Nellie took me to dreamland. With an outside wedding pavilion overlooking the pond and an old covered bridge. This rustic venue was perfect and Julianne, an artist, gave every detail that Southern touch. From the soft pastel palette of the bridesmaids dresses to the decor. Can I say cheers to seafoam and peonies which are my favs! The day included makeup artist Jessica of Awakened Beauty coming out and following the girls to give them photo touch ups. The personal details that made the day complete included koozies, a wooden plaque for the guests to sign and cocktail napkins. When you put it all together, at every turn, you can’t help at smile at the beauty of this day.
Julianne + Tom are like that model, magazine couple you’ll see in Southern Weddings. Even more, they are equally sweet and it was so much fun being part of their special day. Watching every one of the girls tear up during the ceremony, was a moment to cherish. The wedding party were such a delight even urging me to get on the dance floor. This wonderful couple truly had the best day ever.
I love you
Not only for who you are
But for what I am when I am with you.
I love you
Not only for what you have made of yourself
But for what you are making of me.
I love you for the part of me that you bring out.
I love you for putting your hand into my heart
And passing over all the foolish, weak things that you can’t help.
Dimly seeing there and drawing out, into the light all the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked quite far enough to find.
You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sign.” – Roy Croft
Congrats to Julianne + Tom ♥
Overlooking the gorgeous Georgia landscape of this private family farm owned by the grooms family, made this beautiful farm wedding even more breathtaking. Complete with the couple getting baptized pre wedding, working together by cooking and serving their wedding guests meals and the lighting of special paper lanterns. But before I get ahead of myself, let me share some history.
Jenn and I go back 15 years, so when she called me to tell me she was getting married, my heart leaped! Jenn Gotzon is an award winning actress as well as an international cover model and one of the most joyful people you’ll ever meet. Jim compliments her as a goofball and fellow actor, what a pair!
I thank God everytime I think of you.” – Phil. 1:3
These two actors met while filming and can both be found in over 10 recent films together. Films include “The Colors of Emily” (2015), “My Daddy’s in Heaven,” and “Saving Faith” (will be released by Lionsgate soon) where they star as love interests.
Jenn & Jim are in the middle of filming their own love story, “The Farmer and the Belle“. In fact, some of the filming, such as their wedding kiss and reception was filmed live on the wedding day. They even flew in renown makeup artist, Brother Zhen from China, whom they met while filming. The theme of the wedding was sunflower country chic where the bridal party arrived to the top of the romantic hillside in a tractor pulled hay wagon. The bride wore an enchanted hand crafted gown and was a delight. It was a dream to capture this beautiful union with such landscape. What a day to remember! ♥
Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Chandler!

Charleston SC Kiawah Island Wedding
I’m sitting here reminiscing on my top favorite couples and weddings of all times. I can’t help but think, I love my job as a Charleston wedding Photographer and beyond. This private Kiawah Island wedding was gorgeous! The Kiawah Island golf resort complete with spanish moss trees, bungalow suites and a beach bonfire makes for one memorable occasion.
October, my favorite month of the year is such a beautiful wedding month. Ashley’s adorable pup, Lola was also part of Ashley and Sean’s beautiful union. Lola was all spiffed up ready to walk down the aisle. It was an adorable sight. Joining her were ten fun bridesmaids in blush pink, full of love and excitement.
Her father-daughter moment was so special as she had a special embroidered napkin to give as a token of her love as a wedding gift. Having the couple vow their forevers in front of a large wooden cross was so sentimental and tells of the importance of their faith. It was a moment to remember. Having the gorgeous deep orange sunset setting on the golf course made for such romantic images. It was a perfect way to end the day and to start their new beginning as Mr. & Mrs..
Faith makes all things possible. Love makes all things easy. – Dwight Moody
Ashley is gorgeous inside & out and of course a stunning bride. It was my honor to be part of her special day. Sean, her handsome groom is such a delight. What a photogenic and cool couple! Just recently, Ashley tells me she “will never forget how sweet I was to her right before she walked down the aisle”. Be still my heart. I hope to not only capture those priceless moments as your wedding photographer, but to ease any pre wedding jitters as well. So thanks Ashley for reminding me why I love what I do.
Catching up with the couple now, they have relocated to California for Sean’s new job and have a new baby girl, Emma. Cheers to a lifetime of memories and moments that are priceless and forever cherished! ♥
NORTH CAROLINA FARM WEDDING
What a beautiful wedding day for Kindra + Roger! Arriving at the rustic and quite adorable Longstraw Farms in Ayden, NC was such a treat. Sandy, the owner of the farm is such a delight and made this the perfect venue. As soon as you walk up, you are welcomed by the hand calligraphy signs. The ceremony spot under the grandfather oaks are filled with restored vintage church pews. Walking in a bit further, is Roger’s very own classic 1973 Volkswagen Beetle. This vintage themed classic couple make me swoon. Even the bride wore pearls from her great grandmother, which were purchased in Japan by her great grandfather. I knew right away that this was going to be a day to remember.
This sweet couple were a joy. Let’s take a look at their love story. Roger’s sister in law, was Kindra’s roommate in college, were they eventually met. They quickly became best friends from the start, where they were friends for a long time before deciding to date. Kindra fell in love with Roger before she even realized it. It took her by sweet surprise. Roger asked Kindra to marry him at a Capital Cities/ Bear Hands concert . Yes! was her immediate answer of course. After over a year of being engaged they are now here at the beautiful farm to become husband & wife with a farm full of loving witnesses.
This memorable day full of dancing, laughter and funny toasts made for such the celebration. Ending this perfect day was a firework exit and driving off into the sunset in the grooms classic Volkswagen. Enjoy the gallery where as they say, pictures are worth 1,000 words.
NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING
I am convinced that a Southern wedding is like none other. There was so much charm from the venue of this Chapel Hill wedding to the old Southern traditions. This North Carolina wedding at the cozy & private Bingham Inn made for such a romantic celebration. Southern tradition at it’s best complete with a party bus, pig pickin’, monogrammed corn hole and diggin’ the bourbon to name a few. The just married couple loaded up the wedding party in the fun Bridge Bus and headed over to the reception. Time to party!
When the bride, Ashley tells me get ready for diggin’ up the bourbon, I was stumped. Come to find out it’s an old Southern tradition and I think this one falls under the heading of “crazy traditions,”. My research was inconclusive as to where this tradition began, though some sources said Virginia, and some Tennessee. Regardless of the location, Southern folklore says that if you bury a bottle of bourbon at the site where the bride and groom are to be married, then it won’t rain on their wedding day. According to many believers, this must be done exactly one month before the wedding, the bottle must be completely full and it must be buried upside down in order for it to keep the rain away. It must work because it kept the rain away and we had a day full of clear skies.
Sure as cornbread goes with greens, you’re the answer to my dreams. – Southern Saying
The night was complete with an emotional speech from maid of honor and sister and the night full of dancing and celebrating.
Traditional North Carolina Wedding at it’s finest.
Congratulations Ashley + Andrew! ♥
DOWNTOWN RALEIGH WEDDING
The historic Merrimon-Wynne House, built in 1876, in downtown Raleigh is such a beautiful piece of southern history. The mint colored walls and chandeliers make for the perfect backdrop! I don’t know who was more excited me or the bride, Mary Cates! I “ooh and ahhed” at every elegant detail.
Mary Cates, is such a gorgeous southern belle and sweet to top it off. It was trult a delight to be part of her special day! Jason her handsome groom was also just as sweet and endearing. They make for such a perfect match.
One of the highlights of the day included the officiant, stopping mid ceremony to remind the guests to shout”all in favor” for all to hear. He was a ball of laughs. Then there were those tender moments of the first dances with father & daughter, mother & son. I look forward to being part of capturing future memories. Mary Cates is already talking baby photos ha! I wish the wonderful newlyweds a lifetime of joy!
Congrats to the Beviers! ♥
